Intesa Sanpaolo: signals of recovery for tourism in LazioJul 28
Over the next few months the depreciation of the euro could play a key role for tourism in Lazio, promoting the flow of foreign tourists, especially Americans, and those from emerging markets. This is the picture that emerged from the 'Report on the hotel sector of Lazio' done by Servizio Studi e Ricerche di Intesa Sanpaolo. "The objective of the study", explained Fabrizio Guelpa, Industry & Banking Manager for Servizio Studi e Ricerche di Intesa Sanpaolo is to offer starting points for analysis to identify the best way to accelerate the development of a fundamental sector of the Lazio economy, which including allied industries makes up more than 10% of the local GDP and that contributes a third of the national tourism balance". The crisis of the past two years has heavily hit the tourism sector in Lazio, but the study indicates that there were signals of recovery in the first months of 2010, with an increase in overnights (+6.6%) that promoted the reinforcement of profitability. The Region is also in the top spot in terms of internationalisation, has a high level of room occupancy during the year, and boasts little seasonality.
