Golf centre to re-launch Maremma tourismJul 29

A golf centre will be set up to re-launch tourism in the Maremma area. Confindustria Toscana, the Tourism Promotion Agency and the Chamber of Commerce of Grosseto are placing their bets on this idea seeking to create a network amongst the 4 golf course in the Maremma region: Argentario, Punta Ala, Toscana and Terme di Saturnia. "We want to create an integrated circuit forming a network, based on golf, of all of the tourism resources of the territory, from accommodation structures to bathing facilities, from beauty farms to restaurants to transportation", stated Mario Salvestroni, the President of Confindustria Grosseto. The hope is that this type of stay will be a driving force for the entire economy of the region, attracting visitors, especially international ones, made confident by the fact that tourism tied to golf has grown 8% in the past ten years. Of the 64 million golf fans, however, only 16% come from Europe and Italy is still in last place for the number of players.
