Risorgimento star of urban trekking in 31 Italian citiesJul 07

The eighth national urban trekking day will be held on October 31st. Thirty one Italian cities, led by Siena, where this form of tourism was created in 2002, will organise itineraries on the theme of "Trekking tricolore - Le prime tracce del nostro passato italiano. Storie, luoghi e monumenti successivi alla metà dell'Ottocento" (Tricolour Trekking - The First Traces of our Italian Past. Stories, Places and Monuments after the mid-19th Century). The itineraries will lead participants to discover the places and people who contributed to building Italy. Every municipal administration has prepared an itinerary based on the history and monuments tied to Italian Unification. Amongst the various initiatives, Bologna will be presenting the signs left by the days of 1888, Salerno will present Risorgimento figures and Siena, the head of the initiative, will even offer slow trekking for the youngest guests. The event has been organised by various municipal administrations and the Guide Turistiche association.
